Squaw Peak

There's a gorgeous hiking spot just off of route 7 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

It holds everything we look for in a nature destination: steep climbs, scenic overlooks, a waterfall, rocky caves and a legend.

According to ancient folklore, a Native American woman was thrown from the peak because she fell in love with a man from an opposing tribe.

On the southern end of the mountain, there is a rough mound of stones that was supposed to have been assembled by sympathetic people as a monument to the forbidden couple.
