Laundry Day

Over the last 2 years we've had both of the laundromats on our street burn down. Soooo, I invested in a sturdy granny cart to lug my delicates the nearly 10 blocks to the next closest location.

It turnout out to be much cheaper as it was on a quiet, out of the way street and I usually had it all to myself. Plus I could sit outside on a wee little bench and listen to the birds gossip. :)

Then this one opened only 4 doors down... It's strangely high tech (high tech = expensive apparently!) and play pop hip hop music (which stresses me out when I usually find doing laundry so relaxing). But it's so close!

Torn.

When I lived in Chicago, I totally lugged my gagillion lbs of laundry the extra mile for the quieter laundry mat. Doing laundry at the mat was like therapy; I listened to my music, watched the little old ladies with their husbands, I wrote in my sketchbook, I sketched.. It was 2 hours of me time that was guilt free because I was "doing something productive." Go to the one you like better, it's worth it. :D Have a good weekend and happy laundering! :)

You and I are definitely in the same boat regarding laundry as therapy. It's my zen time alone with my thoughts and methodical movement.

At the very least, I think I need to go to the quiet one more often. Even if it's not every time, at least I'll look forward to the solitude when I have that day to spend there :)
