The Gates

I came across this photo last night while searching through for shots of the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park. As much as I didn't really care for the Gates (sorry Christo and Jeanne-Claude), this picture almost seems magical to me, with a life of its own :)

I wish you all a mystical, light altering start to spring!

Great photo! I remember living on Miami Beach when Christo surrounded the islands in pink. I wasn't crazy about it but looking at an overhead, it was kind of cool.

I'm so glad that you said that! I can't pinpoint exactly why I was unimpressed with them.. maybe just the wrong season?

i am an art teacher and "big" art events/happenings like this don't happen too often. i kick myself everytime i see or remember the gates for not going. i wish i had bought a cheap ticket to new york.

I couldn't get enough of the gates when they were here. Talk about transforming a spot and creating energy just with some fabric. It looked like nothing on TV, but being there and walking around, it made you appreciate every change in scenery and the changing light - even in the freakin freezing city, everyone was mobilized.

That is a very cool photo. I've never heard of "The Gates" before. Sounds arty and fun. :o) I do love how the sun catches at just the right angle for that photo. Beautiful colors.
