Blogmaster2000 and I went to check out a series of bands at Central Park's SummerStage this Sunday. We made it just in time (don't you love when that happens!) to see Janelle Monae, whom I'd only just heard the night before.

She's one of the most amazing showmen, vocalist, songstesses I've EVER been in the presence of. We had actually planned to go to see Imani Coppola of Little Jackie, but Janelle definitely stole the show.

In the midst of it all we had a chance to sit under the shade of a plain tree and enjoy some sandwiches and greenery :) This is one of my favorite shots from the day.

I hope you all have a chance to get outside this week!

sounds really fun! these photos make it look like it's a huge park in the countryside :)
Isn't that funny! Nope, just a huge park in the middle of our HUGE city :)
Sounds like a wonderful time! Make sure you get in a few more like this one before the summer is done. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Glad I found you. I'll be back.

These popped up today and I thought of you and wanting to live in a tree.
Holy goodness in the air!! Totally going to blog on that, Janelle. You rock!!
i just listened to her via your link - very original; love her combo of punk + r&b. her website is so cool, too. looks like you had a great afternoon of summer in the city. thanks for sharing!
What a great time you guys had :) I love the picture of you (?) under the tree! So cute!
Thanks! Not me :) We'll call her, Anonymous New Yorker.
Looks beautiful..weather is still lousy here..What a nice time, music in the park..
Oh, city life! Your park is bigger than my little town, I think. I'm a wee bit jealous of you! Looks like a lot of fun!

Ah, summer concerts...in the city. My husband and I checked-out this neighborhood indie music festival at the end of July. I agree with another commenter, Central Park seems like its been transported to the countryside.
