Something Beautiful: Unique Handmade Candles

1. What do you create?

I create renewable soy vintage teacup candles. I also design Jewelry.

2. What led you to take up your craft?

For my wedding I wanted to have a unique favor for everyone to take home with them. For some reason or another Vintage teacup candles popped into my head. I made over 170 teacup candles for all my guests, this is how I fell in love making candles. I also made all the jewelry for my bridesmaids.

3. Which part of your work do you most enjoy?

I would say I love going to antique stores and finding beautiful teacups. I love finding treasures I can make into something else for others to enjoy.

4. Which part do you find hardest?

The hardest about candle making is the testing. It can be very frustrating trying a new wax or fragrance and finding the right wick to burn the right diameter of the candle. Also Soy wax is very finicky. Temperature is the key and you must pour it at the right temp to get smooth tops to your candles.

5. Where do you get your inspiration?

I graduated as an Architect and still practice. I find inspiration everywhere. For candles I would say mood is a great inspirer. What kind of mood do I want to portray with the scent or the vessel, or even the color.

6. Do you participate in any etsy groups, and if so, which ones?

Yes. I love my etsy groups! I am in Etsyfriends, which is such a wonderful uplifting supportive group. I am also in the Illinois Street Team. I love this group because I can actually meet them and see the person behind the store. We also try to participate in shows together and go on field trips!

7. What's one material your shop can't live without?

My Kitchen scale! lol I use this daily from shipping to measuring all ingredients in my candles

8. What is your favorite item that you have purchased off of Etsy?

9. If I could sell one item from my shop today, it would be...

I would love to sell my Honeydew Mellon Vintage Sugar Bowl Soy Candle.

It is in a very interesting sugar bowl and smells heavenly

10. If I had enough money to pick one item on my wish list from any shop on etsy to buy, it would be...

Soap I love handmade soap so I would indulge and buy soap and bath bombs!

11. What are the top three favorite items currently listed in your store?

Butterfly Wings Soy Demitasse Teacup Candle, this is a demitasse cup and is so adorable!

Lemon Chiffon Soy Teacup Candle, I love the retro teacup!

Winter Wonderland Asian Soy Teacup Candle, I love Asian teacups and this one is so beautiful.

12. What undiscovered artisans would you recommend the world to know?

Probablly, My father. He is an architect and is an amazing artist. his paintings are beautiful. He has a Architecture Buisness in Lexington, Ky it is named TBS Architects.

13. What is the best advice you have ever received?
