*FEATURED ARTIST of the week* ~~WeepingMulberry~~

WeepingMulberry

Erin Peterson Art

1. What do you create?

I make drawings and paintings. I mostly paint in oils. My paintings and drawings usually reflect my emotional state at the time. I am an instant gratification kind of person, so I usually try to finish a painting in one or two sessions. This is also because by the time I come back to it later, I am in a completely different mood!

2. What led you to take up your craft?

I've been drawing and creating since I was knee high to a grasshopper. I can't imagine not doing it. I used to think it was just a hobby, but now I know that if I couldn't paint or draw, I'd probably have to be locked up.

3. Which part of your work do you most enjoy?

I enjoy painting most of all. I get lost in it. When that happens, all else means nothing. Everything else melts away and it begins to feel like I'm floating in the painting like a daydream.

4. Which part do you find hardest?

I guess the hardest part for me is keeping a space open and clear for me to work in. I have a "studio" which is just an extra room in my house. Somehow, though, by no fault of my own, ^_^ it becomes cluttered and messy. Then it becomes a struggle to pull everything out that I need, or clear away clutter, or clean up after myself.

5. Where do you get your inspiration?

Everywhere! Some of my favorite artists are: Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Camille Rose Garcia, The Black Apple (a fellow etsian), Seonna Hong, Amy Sol, and many, many others.
I love colors. Colors play an important role in my work. I feel connected to Van Gogh in that sense. He once said he considered himself to be a "colourist". Me too, Vincent!

6. Do you participate in any etsy groups, and if so, which ones?

I am a part of several etsy groups. I'm a member of etsy.com love, etsy artists, and the aceo etsy street team on Flickr. I'm also a member of an Etsy group on blogcatalog.com

7. What's one material your shop can't you live without?

I'm an avid Hobby Lobby customer. I also like Dick Blick art supplies.

8. What is your favorite item that you have purchased off of Etsy?

I've been saving up money to spend in
Black Apple's Shop!
Also, Miss Bunny's Shoes
and AshleyG!

9. If I could sell one item from my shop today, it would be...

Uhhh...my most expensive one?

10. If I had enough money to pick one item on my wishlist from any shop on etsy to buy, it would be...

Probably "Hello July" by AshleyG because it looks like me and my boyfriend.

11. What are the top three favorite items currently listed in your store?

I think

Stumble, Puppet Master, and Big Mama have the most views.

12. What undiscovered artisans would you recommend the world to know?

Erin Peterson and Jobe Nelson. (My boyfriend and Me.) ^_^

13. What is the best advice you have ever received?

Enjoy the present moment, and find something to learn from the bad moments.
